Comment and Information for 1989 Durham Counts:

  1. The 1989 Durham Region database was updated in August 2001 with vehicle categories adjusted to match those for the 2001 Durham Region database.
  2. The following Major Screenlines, which were counted in the 2001 program, consist of complete station data for each count year:  1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 22, 25, 26, 27, 28, 30, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 56, 57, and 58.
  3. Some automatic vehicle counts are proportioned into autos by number of people with no assignment to trucks or buses unless other data is available.
  4. Database has been modified to reflect traffic volume in 15-minute ending times.
  5. Cab drivers and truck drivers are NOT included in person counts.
  6. 1989 Counts were conducted from 6:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

01.02 No counts were recorded in both directions between 6:01 and 7:30. The data was estimated based on subsequent volumes at this station and vehicle trends at stations 01.03 and 02.01. The bus passengers were not counted between 7:31 and 9:45; estimates were made.
01.03 Heavy traffic caused under reporting in both directions between 6:01 and 7:15. The recorded traffic volume was not adjusted. The number of people on buses was not counted southbound between 13:16 and 17:30 and at 19:00. The number of bus passengers was adjusted based on data from Pickering Transit.
01.04 Heavy traffic volume may have resulted in under-reporting between 9:16 and 10:30. The recorded traffic volume was not adjusted.
02.03 The number of people in buses was not counted southbound between 8:16 and 9:15. Data was estimated based on preceding and subsequent counts recorded for this station.
03.02 Bus passengers travelling north were not counted between 11:31 and 14:45. Data was estimated based on preceding and subsequent counts recorded for this station.
03.03 The heavy southbound traffic may have resulted in under-reporting. The recorded traffic volumes were not adjusted.
04.01 The station was counted on July 13, 1989. Traffic may be less than in May because of school closing and summer holidays. Bus passengers were not counted but were estimated based on Oshawa Transit data.
04.02 Heavy traffic volume may have resulted in under-reporting in both directions between 8:16 and 8:30. The observed traffic volume was not adjusted. Bus count data for persons travelling south were poorly recorded between 14:16 and 15:00 and between 19:16 and 19:30. Data was estimated based on preceding and subsequent counts at this station.
04.03 The morning count was taken on May 25, 1989. The afternoon count was taken on May 18, 1989. Data was not collected for both directions between 12:46 and 13:15. This data was estimated based on preceding and subsequent counts at this station. HandiTransit passengers travelling south between 8:01 and 11:15 and north between 7:46 and 12:00 were not counted. The data was estimated.
04.04 This was a non-directional automatic count. Direction splits were proportioned as per station 05.03 while vehicle occupancy was distributed as per station 05.01. Data for bus vehicles and passengers was based on information from Oshawa Transit.
05.02 Bus passenger totals were not consistent. Data was checked against Oshawa Transit counts and adjusted accordingly.
05.03 This was an automatic count station. Vehicle occupancy was proportioned as per station 05.01.
05.04 Bus count data was not consistent, however adjustments were not made.
