1. The count was undertaken manually, and by Automatic Traffic Recorders (ATR) as follows:
   
   • Freeways and busy regional roads were counted both manually during peak periods 6:00 to 11:00, 14:00 (2:00 pm) to 19:00 (7:00 pm) and ATR for 24 hours with data from 6:00 to 19:00 put in the databank.
   • Low volume regional roads were counted by ATR for 24 hours with the data from 6:00 to 19:00 put in the databank.
   
   The method of counting for each station is identified in the list of stations available here.
   
   
2. The vehicle totals were controlled, for all stations, by the ATR data. Total vehicles include motorcycles. The vehicle distribution was as counted for manually counted time periods and the average of other manual counts in the area for ATR counted time periods.
   
   
3. Taxi and bus drivers are included in the occupancy of taxis and buses.
   
   
4. Motorcycle is a new vehicle category added in 2004.
