The 1964 Metropolitan Toronto and Region Transportation Study (MTARTS) was a home interview survey conducted jointly by the Metropolitan Toronto and Region Transportation Study and the Metropolitan Toronto Planning Board. The survey area covered the following:
- City of Hamilton, formerly Regional Municipality of Hamilton-Wentforth (including Hamilton, Dundas, Stoney Creek, part of Ancaster, part of Glanbrook, and part of Flamborough)
- City of Toronto, formerly Metropolitan Toronto (entire area)
- Regional Municipality of Durham (including Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa, part of Clarington and part of Uxbridge)
- Regional Municipality of Halton (entire area)
- Regional Municipality of Peel (including Mississauga, Brampton and part of Caledon)
- Regional Municipality of York (including all areas except East Gwillimbury)

Note that expansion factors were trip specific. Therefore, household and person data were not weighted and are presented as number of records or in percentages. Please refer to 1964 MTARTS Analysis Report for details about this survey.
